Welcome to the privacy policy of Growing Up Nordic. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, and what your rights are under EU and UK data protection law.

We collect data that you provide directly and data collected automatically when you use the site.

Some data is mandatory to process your order. Failure to provide it may prevent us from fulfilling your purchase. Optional data is clearly indicated where requested.
3. How and where we process your data
We process your data using secure IT systems and organisational procedures designed to prevent unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Access is restricted to the owner and to authorised processors named below.
Data is processed at our operating offices in Finland and at the locations of the service providers listed in Section 4. Some providers may process data outside the European Union; see Section 9 for safeguards.
4. Services and third parties we use
To run this site and fulfil your orders, we share certain personal data with the following providers. Each acts as a data processor under our instructions or as a joint controller where applicable.
Site platform and hosting Wix.com Ltd. hosts our website and provides the e-commerce platform (Wix Stores). Wix receives all data submitted through the site, including order information, contact form messages, and site analytics. Wix's privacy policy is available at wix.com/about/privacy.
Payment processing Wix Payments processes card payments (Visa, Mastercard), Apple Pay, and Google Pay on our behalf. It receives your name, billing address, card details, and transaction amount to complete the payment. Wix's underlying payment partner performs card processing; we do not store full card numbers.
Order fulfilment BookVault Ltd., based in the United Kingdom, is our print-on-demand and shipping partner. To print and dispatch physical books, BookVault receives your name, shipping address, and order contents. BookVault does not receive payment information.
Cookies and consent management: Consentik, based in Luxembourg, manages our cookie consent banner and records your consent choices. It processes only the minimal data needed to remember your preferences.
Email communication: Order confirmations, shipping updates, and replies to enquiries are sent from hello@growingupnordic.com through Wix's built-in business email system. Your email address is used solely to communicate about your order or any request you make.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
5. Why we process your data
We process your data for the following purposes, on the legal bases noted:

8. Data retention
We keep your personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected:

Order and tax records: 7 years, as required by Finnish accounting and tax law

Customer service correspondence: up to 2 years after the last contact

Cookie consent records: as long as your consent remains valid

Website analytics: up to 26 months
When the retention period ends, your data is deleted or anonymised. After deletion, the rights of access, erasure, rectification, and portability can no longer be exercised over that data.
9. International transfers
Some of our service providers process data outside Finland. BookVault is based in the United Kingdom, which the European Commission has recognised as providing adequate data protection. Other providers (such as parts of Wix's infrastructure) may process data outside the European Economic Area; in those cases we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards required by the GDPR.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page, and the "Last updated" date at the top will be revised. Where changes affect processing based on your consent, we will seek new consent as required.
